It has all brass mounts with wood with leather wrapped sword grip and fully intact bound brass wire wrap. The curved blade is marked on one side AMES MFG. CO. CHICOPEE One the other side it is marked U. S. G. K. C. 1864 G. K. C. was a Union Government Inspector AMES sword factory during the period of the Civil War.
