This example was made in 1851 in New Haven, Conn. by Eli Whitney, and is in lovely condition. The lock plate is marked E. WHITNEY U. S. and N. HAVEN 1851. It has however been updated, by the retrograde step of being smooth bored after 1855 to accept the then
