This is an original French Grenadier officer's shako from the Louis Philippe reign of 1830 1848. This is actually the Pattern 1818, the helmet plate displaying the Gallic Cockerel on a trophy of background of flag banners in front of the red, white and blue cockade surmounted by a black Pom Pom to top. The color of the Pom Pom denoted the actual unit. Typical embroidered gold band around helmet top and quality
