This is a very nice example of a well worn early American Eagle Head Militia Officers Sword with a partial correct leather scabbard. There are no makers markings present, and the etchings on the blade may indicate German manufacture. This example does appear to be Mexican American War era (1846 1848) used and is in great, field worn condition. The sword itself may actually date to the late 1820s 1830s, but likely saw
