This is a magnificent Napoleonic Era British naval captain's fighting saber, complete with its original correct scabbard. The saber is named to Captain John Edgcumbe R. N., who was born in 1775 and died in 1837. The saber has a fine checkered walrus ivory grip, with the stirrup hilt retaining much of its original gold wash.
