Constructed of gilded and silvered bronze with multi coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by an elaborate depiction of the Order of St. George with a ribbon bearing dates 1570 1870, topped by a crowned monogram the Tsar, surrounding a gilded and enameled shield of the Don Cossack Army, the reverse with a matching oval backplate and nut, the former maker marked (GENRIKH or
